U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin congratulates Market Basket workers on their victory

Republican U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin is celebrating today along with Market Basket workers. “I am the only Republican U. S. Senate candidate who stood 100% behind the employees and I continue to do so,” Andy says. “My TV commercials supporting Market Basket workers are still running (see link below) and will continue to run through the transition to Arthur T ownership. The legendary battle of Market Basket workers to save their jobs and save their company will resonate in American business history. The bravery and loyalty and community of Market Basket workers should be an inspiration to every American. The way forward will not be easy. But I believe the spirit demonstrated by the Market Basket team will carry them on to ‘bigger and better.’ Today is a proud day for the Market Basket workers and those of us who were shoulder to shoulder with them. I am humbled to have stood with them, and I continue to stand with them as the transition to Arthur T ownership continues in the months ahead.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Republican U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin celebrates the victory of Market Basket workers

Andy says his TV ads supporting Market Basket employees will continue to run as the transition to “Arthur T” ownership proceeds

(Manchester, NH) (August 28, 2014)

Dear Granite Stater:

As you know, over the past six weeks I have stood shoulder to shoulder with Market Basket associates and former MB management. You can see a short video, as well as my TV commercial, on my campaign web site (see link below to my campaign web site).

Being a political leader means standing out front and standing with ordinary citizens when they need you. Being a leader also means standing up for the public interest.

There were equities on both sides of the Demoulas Family battle. If I have time, I will write my interpretation of the conflict.

But at the end of the day, the public interest mandated reopening the stores with the lives and families twenty-five thousand New Hampshire and Massachusetts workers at stake. Hundreds of thousands of customers were also part of the public interest calculation.

Ironically, the settlement came just as we as a nation stand down for a weekend to celebrate Labor Day.

I hope all of you will have a happy holiday. I pray, of course, for good weather. In New Hampshire we will welcome half a million guests over the next few days. Let’s take good care of them. Our economy depends on visitors.

God bless all of you, and God bless the associates of Market Basket. Finally, God bless America and God bless our men and women in uniform who keep us free and give life to the very constitutional liberties we cherish.

Loyally,

Andy

U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin defends Jeanne Shaheen against false accusations of anti-Semitism

Republican U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin will hold a news conference today, Wednesday, August 27th to condemn Scott Brown and Jennifer Horn, as well as the New Hampshire Republican Party, for falsely accusing Jeanne Shaheen of anti-Semitism. Andy demands that Brown take his bogus “anti-Semite” attacks on Shaheen off the air. “The behavior of the New Hampshire Republican Party is a disgrace to Granite State Republicans as well as an embarrassment to Republicans nationally,” Andy says. “Brown should remove his web ad accusing Shaheen of taking ‘anti-Semitic campaign contributions.’ Brown has brought politics in this state to a new low. We need a house-cleaning of the New Hampshire GOP leadership. Ordinary Republicans are great; the leadership is incompetent and despicable. Scott Brown has only exacerbated the decline of the party.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ANNOUNCEMENT OF MANCHESTER, NH NEWS CONFERENCE

ATTENTION NATIONAL, POLITICAL, NEW HAMPSHIRE DAYBOOK & ASSIGNMENT EDITORS

Republican U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin condemns Jennifer Horn and Scott Brown for “despicable behavior” in accusing Jeanne Shaheen of de facto anti-Semitism

Andy says Brown and Horn are disgracing the Republican Party locally and nationally

Andy says he is extremely reluctant to defend Shaheen but his sense of “public integrity” compels him to do so

Andy suggests Horn's real target may be New Hampshire’s Lebanese-American community, which resides in both political parties

It is time to state the obvious: New Hampshire GOP leaders have a grossly inflated sense of their role and competence

(Manchester, NH) (August 27, 2014)

Dear Granite Stater:

The last thing I want to do is defend Jeanne Shaheen. But in a lifetime in politics that spans almost fifty years, I have always put public integrity, not politics, first. I believe in the truth and I believe in truth-telling politics, not false accusations of anti-Semitism.

Scott Brown and Jennifer Horn have brought politics in this state to a new low. (Brown is using one of his “off the books,” so-called “independent,” committees to smear Jeanne Shaheen with a web video (see link # [5] below). Brown’s use of such anonymous attacks is a sham and fraud.)

1. The origins of Jeanne Shaheen’s alleged “anti-Semitism”

Jeanne Shaheen is being accused of taking “anti-Semitic” money from a PAC in Washington called “J Street.” J Street is a pro-Israel group with an independent position on the Middle East crisis. I neither endorse nor condemn J Street. I am aware of J Street but I don’t pay great attention to the group’s views. Jennifer Horn and Scott Brown are accusing J Street of being a “fringe” group when J Street merely reflects a competing view of Middle East politics.

2. The “old guard” and the “new guard” in pro-Israel politics

The “pro-Israel” movement is no different than any other aspect of our society. There is a generational gap and a generational challenge between those who unquestioningly support Israel’s policies and others who do not give unquestioning support. The Republican Party is not immune from this hydraulic pressure.

Governor Chris Christie was recently chastised by a potential supporter for saying the West Bank was “occupied.” Only in the United States would Christie’s remarks be criticized. Indeed, there are many more shades of nuanced opinion, and much more “freedom of the press,” in Israel than in the United States when it comes to debating the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

In my opinion all sides of the contentious Middle East dispute are entitled to make bona fide arguments (even denying the West Bank is “occupied” if that’s what they believe) without being branded as anti-Semites.

J Street” in an independent-thinking pro-Israel group that sometimes says provocative things about the conflict between Israel and Palestine. But by no stretch of the imagination are J Street supporters “anti-Semites” as backers of competing organizations allege. Scott Brown and Jennifer Horn have tried to portray Jeanne Shaheen as a de facto anti-Semite because her campaign has accepted contributions from J Street and J Street donors.

Brown’s and Horn’s behavior is pure gutter politics.

3. Is Horn’s attack is really one on Lebanese-Americans

Is Brown’s attack on Shaheen really an anti-Semitic accusation or is there a back story? Perhaps Brown and Shaheen are trying to draw attention to Shaheen’s Lebanese-American name. I assume Bill Shaheen, Jeanne’s husband, has a Lebanese-American background. Horn and Brown may be trying to stir up hostility to Bill Shaheen as part of their attack on J Street. Who knows what lurks in the deranged minds of Jennifer Horn and Scott Brown? You tell me what you think.

4. Horn lodged the same lies against me

A third of a century ago (yes, century) I was involved in a nasty litigation with a cocaine-crazed judge (yes judges did go crazy with cocaine in the 80’s, along with a lot of other people). Horrendous attacks were lodged by all sides in the series of lawsuits. Ultimately two judges (Cabranes and Neumann) were very likely denied appointments to the U. S. Supreme Court because of their misconduct involving me. Out of millions of words in the lawsuits, most of them vitriolic, especially on the part of “Cocaine Cabranes,” my political opponents have sought to take a few sentences out of context to suggest I am anti-Semitic. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I grew up in a philo-Semitic home, with a spiritual parent that was a refugee from Nazi Germany. I was being schooled in the Holocaust when most kids my age were studying baseball standings. Nevertheless, we all know that in lawsuits (where husbands and wives routinely accuse each other of “extreme cruelty” before counting out the cash) Horn has tried to pretend I am an anti-Semite to undermine me politically. Horn’s tactics have backfired. Instead of letting voters make up their own minds, Horn has tried to harass me and ended up making a sworn enemy who is dedicated to her removal from party office.

Now Horn is using false accusations of anti-Semitism against Jeanne Shaheen. I hope you will agree with me that Brown’s and Horn’s behavior is an embarrassment to the Republican Party.

5. I demand that Shaheen and Brown apologize

Brown and Horn should apologize for their misconduct, withdraw their dirty ads, and stop demonizing the Democrats. Telling the truth and proffering the facts about Shaheen are more than enough to defeat her without dragging the state GOP into the gutter.

6. What’s wrong with this picture?

So far as I am aware Jennifer Horn has no meaningful professional distinctions or accomplishments. We have a problem in New Hampshire. Because of our national prominence in the presidential primary process a lot of our Republican “leaders,” who are actually third raters, suddenly believe they are first rate politicians who can spout off as though they really know something.

The New Hampshire Republican Party has been in decline for decades. I do not expect that process to stop in 2014. Brown may slip into the senate if he wins the primary, but he has yet to pass the primary bar. It behooves people of limited accomplishments and intellect such as Horn and her posse to act cautiously when they are participating in politics at a level far beyond their competence.

Brown's loose mouth is also legendary.

Horn’s loose mind is also painfully evident to anyone with minimum political experience at the national level.

You disagree with me? Well, tell me what you think about undermining the GOP brand by lodging false accusations of anti-Semitism against the Democrats.

Please take a look at the links below. I have documented my views with references to all of the relevant issues. As always, and unlike Horn’s and Brown’s attacks, my accusations are evidence-based, not political hot air.

Loyally,

Andy

U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin charges his opponents Bob Smith and Jim Rubens are running “anti-American” campaigns

Republican U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin will hold a Concord, New Hampshire news conference today, Tuesday, August 26th to charge that two of his opponents, Jim Rubens and Bob Smith, are running “anti-American” campaigns and misrepresenting the need for electronic intelligence in the global war against terror. “Smith and Rubens sound more like Obama acolytes than Republicans,” Andy says. Andy is recognized as one of the USA’s most experience intelligence and counter-terror analysts. “We cannot afford to ‘stand down’ our intelligence agencies when ISIS is a real threat.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ANNOUNCEMENT OF MANCHESTER, NH NEWS CONFERENCE

ATTENTION NATIONAL, POLITICAL, NEW HAMPSHIRE DAYBOOK & ASSIGNMENT EDITORS

Republican U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin says two opponents (Smith, Rubens) are running “anti-American” campaigns

Andy says it is irresponsible for Smith and Rubens to criticize the Patriot Act at a time when the terrorist threat is growing

Andy says large-scale intelligence gathering is essential to fighting the amorphous threat of Islamic terrorism and other threats as well (China, Russia)

(Manchester, NH) (August 26, 2014)

Dear Granite Stater:

I am compelled to strongly criticize two of my opponents, Jim Rubens and Bob Smith, for undermining public confidence in our intelligence community. I do so reluctantly. Rubens and Smith and I are all fighting against a Wall Street juggernaut of dirty dollars supporting our opponent Scott Brown. But I just can’t let Jim and Bob talk down agencies which are essential to our national security.

Smith has gone around the state “regretting” his vote for the Patriot Act (see links [1] - [2] below) and making wild accusations having no basis in reality. Likewise, Jim Rubens has been attacking our foreign policy and intelligence efforts (see links [3] - [5] below. Rubens’ claim that “ISIS is not a threat” has been proven spectacularly wrong. Rubens is on the extreme liberal left when it comes to national security.

On the other hand I have a long paper trail of correct foreign policy analysis. I warned against the invasion of Iraq and I warned (while living in Baghdad) when the mission started faltering.

So why attack Rubens and Smith? Because they are misleading voters and making false attacks on both the Patriot Act and the patriots who work in our intelligence community.

The original Patriot Act was not perfect; the law has been amended. But overall, the Patriot Act has served us well. The number of abuses is small. Intelligence gathering is a complex process. There is “human intelligence” (“spies out in the field”) and “electronic intelligence” (spy satellites, intercepts, etc.). For Rubens and Smith to denigrate our national security efforts and to falsely claim that our intelligence agencies are “spying on us” is irresponsible. They should know better, but apparently they don’t.

There is public confusion and concern because of the perjurious and ham-handed testimony of Obama’s Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper. But the fact that Clapper is a jerk doesn't mean we should tear down our intelligence apparatus.

What do Smith and Rubens want to do? End electronic intelligence and throw open the doors to Islamic extremists? Any statute that casts a broad net, as electronic intelligence inevitably must do, obviously carries some risk of abuse. It is the role of Congress to oversee intelligence agencies, not to strip them of their functions. I am the only intelligence expert who can perform that oversight function.

Since I am a strong critic of Scott Brown I would only point out in fairness that Smith’s and Rubens’ hyperventilated rhetoric was too much even for Scott Brown (link [6] below).

Because I have a personal fondness for Rubens and Smith I call on them to promptly repudiate and withdraw their prior attacks on the Patriot Act, and to admit that broadly-based intelligence gathering activity is essential in the age of Islamic extremism and renewed threats from China (remember them?) and Russia (Putinland).

Right now Jim and Bob are campaigning against American national security and that is sad. I urge them to end their anti-American campaigning and to join the team fighting to keep our great nation safe from terrorism and other forms of spying from China, Russia and elsewhere.

If I can be of any help, please do not hesitate to call me.

Loyally,

Andy

U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin asks Federal Communications Commission to investigate Hearst Television’s WMUR-TV

Republican U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin will hold a news conference today, Wednesday, August 27th to announce he has asked the Federal Communications Commission to investigate abuses of federal monopoly power by Hearst Television which owns WMUR-TV in Manchester, New Hampshire. “Hearst is giving Scott Brown and his two ‘debating dummies’ free time at 7:00 P.M.” Andy says, “but refuses to sell me the same time slot at 7:00 P.M. to reach a similar audience. New Hampshire has become a media ‘colony’ of Hearst Television on 57th Street in New York. No company should have such dictatorial media power over an entire state. Hearst is using its media monopoly to nominate Scott Brown. (Brown's wife is a former Hearst employee.) Whether you support or oppose Brown, I should have a fair opportunity to take my case and my candidacy to the people. Hearst Television is making a joke of democracy in our state.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ANNOUNCEMENT OF MANCHESTER, NH NEWS CONFERENCE

ATTENTION NATIONAL, POLITICAL, NEW HAMPSHIRE DAYBOOK & ASSIGNMENT EDITORS

Republican U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin is asking the Federal Communications Commission to investigate the monopoly practices of WMUR-TV

Andy says Hearst Television, which owns WMUR, is giving Scott Brown and his two “debating dummies” free air time at 7:00 P.M. while refusing to sell Andy time at 7:00 P.M. on a different day

Andy says Hearst Television is using its monopoly power to decide the outcome U. S. Senate primary

(Manchester, NH) (August 25, 2014)

Dear Granite Stater:

See if this sounds fair to you: the Hearst Television company that owns WMUR-TV is giving free time for a staged “debate” between Scott Brown and his two “debating dummies.” Hearst Television is refusing to sell me a similar time slot to advertise my campaign. So Brown gets free time, and Hearst will not even sell me the same time they are giving away for free. Is that fair?

Federal law protects the right of access of federal candidates to the air waves. If Hearst gives Brown and the dummies free time at 7:00 P.M., and won’t sell me time at 7:00 P.M., instead offering me time on Sunday afternoon or after 11:00 P.M. when the audience is comparatively infinitesimal, doesn’t that New York-based media dictatorship effective control the outcome of elections in our state?

If a legitimate candidate is denied his right to purchase comparable time, while the station is giving away near-prime time to its favored candidate, democracy is a joke. You don’t have to support me or my candidacy to realize that when strong-arm tactics are used against one candidate they can also be used in the future against other candidates.

I have asked the Federal Communications Commission (“FCC”) to investigative the monopolistic corporate behavior of Hearst Television and the efforts of the company to rig the U. S. Senate election with biased coverage (seen enough of Scott Brown yet?) and refusal to obey federal law by selling me a comparable time slot to that being given away to my opponents.

New Hampshire has a more corrupt media environment than Chicago. Here we have only one TV station licensed to the state. Hearst Television is abusing its monopoly power.

Here is what I asked the FCC to investigate: (letter follows without masthead information)

-----

Hon. Tom Wheeler, Chairman
Federal Communications Commission
445 12th Street, SW
Washington, DC 20554

I am a ballot-qualified candidate for the United States Senate from New Hampshire in the Republican Party primary on September 9, 2014. Therefore, time is of the essence.

Ten (10) years ago I wrote the first report questioning the family history of then-state Senator Barack Obama. I was the first independent investigator to go to Hawai’i to look into then-U. S. Senator Barack Obama’s family history. I wrote a book which is a collection of my columns as well as a Psychological Profile of then-U.S. Senator Obama (copy enclosed with the hard copy of this letter). My research concerning President Obama has been remarkably prescient and remarkably accurate.

The State of New Hampshire has only one commercial TV station licensee, WMUR-TV, which is operated by Hearst Television. The fact that Hearst has a local statewide monopoly makes my situation somewhat unique and urgent.

WMUR-TV is conducting a bogus “debate” involving the licensee’s preferred candidate for U. S. Senator, Scott Brown, and two additional “sparring partners” for Brown, neither of whom has any recent national exposure or meaningful experience in confronting a media phenomenon such as Mr. Brown. As licensees now do, WMUR-TV has also enlisted a local “patsy,” St. Anselm’s College, to act as a “sponsor” of the debate so the broadcaster can claim that Equal Time rules do not apply. The station has been remarkably crafty in seeking to insulate Brown from any meaningful opposition.

I understand Hearst’s motivation. Brown is a cash machine for broadcasters. Brown brings in millions in Wall Street cash to support his candidacy, because his vote in the senate is for sale. Brown also brings in millions in Democratic Party opposition advertising seeking to expose his perfidiousness and defeat him.

Well enough.

WMUR-TV is broadcasting its “debate” at 7:00 P.M.

I asked the licensee to sell me half an hour at 7:00 P.M. (on a different day) so I can counteract the free time being given to Brown and his sparring partners.

WMUR-TV has refused to sell me the same time slot that they are making available for free to my opponents. In substance, WMUR-TV’s position is a corruption and perversion of the Communications Act. To give free time to my opponents and to refuse to sell me the same time slot so I may reach the same audience effectively locks me out of any access to that audience and dooms my campaign.
I do not believe any licensee, Democrat or Republican, should have such monopoly power (Hearst is a Democrat-leaning corporation; they have wined and dined the incumbent senator, Jeanne Shaheen, at their offices in New York City.)

The issue presented is not a complex one. Can a licensee which holds a monopoly position in a state give free time to some candidates, and then refuse to sell the same time slot to another excluded candidate, claming the free time slot is not covered by any form of equal access or equal time opportunity? I think not. The drafters of the Communications Act never contemplated such an extortionate position of power for a licensee to exercise.

I ask the Commissioners to take immediate action to protect my right as a candidate to purchase the same time slot (local access, a half hour, one time, some time between 7:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.) that is being made available for free to my opponents.

The licensee has offered to sell me time on Sunday afternoon, or late at night, but obviously these alternative time slots are not remotely similar to the audience being made available to my primary opponents at 7:00 P.M.

Increasingly we are becoming a feudalistic nation, where corporate might makes right, and where broadcast licensees have contempt for the public interest they are supposed to serve.

Most respectfully, I ask that the spirit of the Communications Act, that licensees must operate in the public interest and not solely in the corporate interest, be honored. The spirit of our Constitution should also be respected. The contumacious monopoly attitude of Hearst should be rejected.

Respectfully submitted,

ANDY MARTIN

-----

I hope you will agree with me that New Hampshire should not be a “colony” of Hearst Television in New York, where Hearst executives get to ban candidates from the airwaves and decide who gets free air time and who will be denied his or her federal right to purchase air time. Hearst’s corporate behavior is despicable. Every New Hampshire citizen suffers and our democracy is diminished when the Hearst TV monopoly is allowed to dictate the outcome of elections in our state.

Loyally,

Andy

Bedford NH Republicans deliberately humiliate U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin

New Hampshire Republican U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin was invited by Bedford Republicans in a “Dear Candidate” email to come to their breakfast August 25th. Andy purchased a ticket appeared at the breakfast and was humiliated in front of his primary opponents when the master of ceremonies refused to let Andy speak. “In almost a half a century in politics this is probably the shabbiest behavior I have ever seen,” Andy says. “That a Republican committee would invite me to their event, as a candidate, and then let my opponents speak and refuse to let me speak is disgraceful behavior. What do you think? Should there be paycheck for this disgraceful conduct by the leaders of the New Hampshire Republican Party? Is this the way to encourage ‘party unity?’”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Andy Martin says Bedford Republicans engaged in deliberate humiliation when they invited him to their event as a candidate and then refused to allow him to speak alongside his primary opponents

Andy says, “The behavior of New Hampshire Republicans in trying to protect Scott Brown from a meaningful primary campaign has been and was today, disgraceful; harassing and embarrassing a statewide candidate is the tawdriest behavior I have seen in almost half a century of political activism”

(Manchester, NH) (August 25, 2014)

Dear New Hampshire Republican:

Today I was deliberately humiliated by the Bedford Republican Committee. Will anyone stand up to defend my right to run for the U. S. Senate? My credentials and qualifications easily match or exceed those of my opponents.

Here is the emailed invitation received:

Dear Candidate,

I hope you are having a great summer and that all is going well with your campaign.   I know it is a lot of work and we at the Bedford Republican Committee appreciate all who are willing to dedicate time and resources to run for office and serve as elected officials.

At the end of this month we have a great opportunity for you to meet and mingle with the people of
Bedford just before the primary.   It is our annual Breakfast and is scheduled for Monday morning, August 25th at 7:00 AM.   It will be held at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford.  We will hear from many of our national candidates and some of our state candidates as well.    There will be time before and after the program to mingle, pass out literature, etc.

Tickets are $30 each and can be purchased on our website http://www.bedfordrepublicans.org/   We are also making tables of 8 available to candidates for purchase at the discounted price of $210.    Thank you to those of you who already taken us up on this offer.

We feel like this will be a great election for the Republicans and are doing are best to energize and activate people here in
Bedford.

Again,  thank you for your contributions to this effort.   We hope to see you at our breakfast.   If you have any questions feel free to give me a call.

Valerie Earnshaw
Chair, Bedford Republican Committee

vmearnshaw@gmail.com=

I purchased a ticket and appeared. Earlier today you received a copy of the remarks I prepared to deliver at the Bedford breakfast on President Obama’s procrastination in the rescuing of James Foley.

The master of ceremonies, Sen. Andy Sanborn (Bedford), was the emcee for the speaker portion. Sanborn announced he would take the candidates speaking in alphabetical order. When he came to “M” he ignored me and went on to “R.”

People came up to me and asked why I was not being allowed to speak. I told them I was an invited guest and I was completely surprised by a committee inviting me and then humiliating me in front of my primary opponents. Is this democracy, New Hampshire Republican-style?

I have a distinguished record of public service and political involvement, see www.AndyMartin.com and www.AndyMartin2014.com. You don’t have to agree with me or support me to defend my right to run for office.

There is no basis to treat me in this disgraceful manner.

Adding to the insult, Scott Brown got up and said he wanted “party unity” after the primary. Why would I support people that have violated their oaths of party office to remain neutral in the primary, and have done everything in their power to humiliate and harass me?

Today Bedford Republicans reached a new low.

At the end of the Bedford “program” this morning Senator Sanborn ended with a lecture on the need for party unity.

In April, Bedford Republicans conducted a “senate debate,” including Karen Testerman but not me. Shortly afterwards she dropped out. Is this the kind of “neutrality” the party by-laws require?

Should Brown and his posse expect payback from me for the humiliation today? Do you think anyone who has been abused in this manner should simply ignore the bad manners of Bedford Republicans and back them anyway? I invite your responses.

New Hampshire is a wonderful state. I have met many fine rank-and-file Republicans. But the leadership of the Republican Party is rotten to the core. Bedford Republicans proved that today. Which is why the GOP keeps losing statewide elections.

Will anyone stand up to condemn this disgraceful behavior against a qualified candidate? Or do Republican leaders need to lose another election before they get the message?

Loyally,

Andy

Andy Martin tells Bedford, NH Republicans Obama delay may have doomed Foley

New Hampshire Republican U. S. Senate candidate Andy Martin will be appearing Monday, August 25th at a breakfast sponsored by the Bedford Republican Committee. Andy plans to alert Republicans to the fact that international reports indicate President Barack Obama’s procrastination doomed James Foley, who was executed by the radical Islamic group ISIS last week. “Obama’s delay in authorizing a rescue mission may have cost an innocent American his life,” Andy says. “Obama may have disclosed the existence of ‘rescue mission’ himself because he knew his procrastination would eventually leak out. Obama was trying to ‘immunize’ himself from liability for delaying the special operations raid to rescue Foley until the mission was futile. The refusal to act promptly on intelligence requests for a rescue of Jim Foley is Obama’s latest ‘Benghazi-style disaster.’”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Andy Martin says reports in the Sunday Times of London indicate procrastination by President Obama may have doomed James Foley

Andy says a “dangerous new world” has arisen and that Americans need experienced new leadership in Washington

Andy says Obama’s delays in authorizing a rescue of James Foley may be Obama’s latest “Benghazi-style” disaster

(Manchester, NH) (August 25, 2014)

Dear Bedford Republican:

Thank you for inviting me to your breakfast today. As a candidate I have somewhat unique qualifications for the dangerous new world that has evolved with the murder of James Foley.

First, I am the only candidate who is familiar with the Middle East. I first went there in 1970. After being among the few Republicans to oppose the invasion of Iraq I lived in Baghdad in 2003.

Sunday the Sunday Times [of London] carried a long article on how Obama’s delays in authorizing a rescue may have doomed Jim Foley. I have attached the first page and will post the full article on www.NewHampshireRepublcians.wordpress.com. Because I monitor the foreign press, from the Middle East to Asia to the U.K., I often find reporting that is not being made available in the U. S. In effect, foreigners get a more complete picture of what is going on in Washington than we do.

I think you will find the Times of London article disturbing. Barack Obama’s penchant for procrastination is well-known. He cost us American lives in Benghazi. He now appears to have cost James Foley his life.

I will keep investigating to find the truth abut what Obama did or did not do to rescue Jim Foley.

Now more than ever, we need a senator in Washington who has the foreign policy experience to lead a bipartisan movement for a strong response to eradicate ISIS.

Loyally,

Andy
